This lake has got it's name from Anaji Chauhan who was the Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan's grandfather. The lake was formed by damming the Luni River and was covered by 13 kilometres, a large chunk of land. During the 17th century, the lake was renovated by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and Jahangir.
